Canngea Pty Ltd was incorporated in Sydney, Australia in 2017. Our mission is to bridge the gap between ancient and contemporary medicine for a better quality of life, and our vision is to be the leading medical cannabis manufacturer, storage and wholesale distributor in Australasia.

 

Canngea sources and supplies:

  • GMP approved white and private label formulation products
  • GACP & GMP dried flower products
  • Raw API materials (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) including THC distillates, biomass flower and CBD isolates.

 

Canngea operates globally in partnership with S4 and S8 storage and distributors, manufacturers, cultivators and brand owners; as well as researchers and developers including the University of Sydney. 

 

We are committed to undertaking research and development (R&D) activities that can bring additional value to our business partners. We have a strategic partnership to facilitate R&D activities, through our Science Director Dr Nial Wheate with the School of Pharmacy at The University of Sydney, where Dr Wheate is also an Associate Professor.

 

We are proud members of the leading industry associations Australian Medicinal Cannabis Association (AMCA) and API Manufacturers Association of Australia (APIMAA) .

Ryan Ballantyne

Managing Director

Ryan has 16 years of professional experience in retail operations and FMCG supply chain, including 11 years of executive management in-store operations, logistics, continuous improvement and work health safety. Ryan has extensive experience in leading high performing teams and has recently completed an MBA through the University of Sydney School of Business and is also a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Martin Bryden

Commercial Director

Martin has worked extensively across the EU and APAC  regions in a 18-year commercial growth career. He has been pivotal in creating and executing strategies for commercial growth for clients including  Woolworths, Shell Oil, Bankwest and Mercedes. Martin has also successfully managed and guided start-ups to success including Appier as Director of Australia & New Zealand regions and he is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Martin has been part of a project management team that delivers design and construction of major infrastructure projects across Australia, with clients such as BHP, Santos, Origin and Samsung. Martin is a risk management and compliance expert with 10 years of experience in his field.  Martin is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Dr Nial Wheate

Science Director

Nial has 22 years of experience in medicines research. He has previously held positions of Program Director Undergraduate Pharmacy and Head of Cancer Research in the Faculty of Pharmacy at The University of Sydney. Nial holds a PhD from UNSW and a DSc from USYD and is a Chartered Chemist and Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. Nial has recently completed an MBA through the University of Sydney School of Business and is also a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also a Director of the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Association and a panel member for sunscreen agents with Standards Australia.

Howard Wigham

Advisory Board Member

Howard is an independent non-executive director, business adviser, coach, and mentor. Currently, Non-Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact Network Australia and the Banksia Foundation, and a member of Finance, Risk and Audit and Nominations and Governance Committees. He supports various sustainability causes and is an investor in early-stage companies with social and environmental purposes.

 

Howard has enjoyed a successful corporate career as a divisional CEO and subsidiary board member in a variety of sectors and has lived in Australia, the United Kingdom and Germany, as well as worked extensively in Asia and North America. He holds an honours degree in Chemistry and German, has completed management programmes at the London Business School and INSEAD, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Dr Jurgen Lindner

Advisory Board Member

Jurgen has extensive experience in the manufacture and regulation of therapeutic goods from early drug development stages through to commercial manufacture, with a focus on quality management and compliance. Over the last 30 years he has held several scientific and senior management positions in both academia and in the biopharmaceutical industry.

 

Jurgen graduated from the University of Heidelberg (Germany) with a PhD in Neurosciences. He has been a committee member of the RACI Pharmaceutical Sciences Group (NSW) for over 20 years and was a founding member of the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Manufacturer's Association of Australia (APIMAA). In his position as the Executive Secretary of APIMAA he is a member of the TGA-Industry working group on GMP.
